The Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, named Aminu Maida as its new executive vice chairman on Wednesday.
Maida took over for Prof. Umar Danbatta, who had been the Commission’s EVC/CEO since 2015.
PROFILE
Maida was born in 1979 to the late Mallam Wada Maida of Katsina State, who served as the previous president of the country Muhammadu Buhari’s chief press secretary.
Maida, the new NCC leader, has a PhD in electrical and electronic engineering from the University of Bath in the United Kingdom and an MEng in information systems engineering from Imperial College London.
Maida was the Executive Director of technology operations at Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System Plc (NIBSS) prior to his appointment.
He has more than 15 years of multi-functional, global expertise in enterprise technology, telecoms, and fintech. He is a seasoned technical specialist.
Before his appointment at NIBSS, Aminu was CTO at the Nigerian-based FinTech Arca Payments Network and Senior Manager at Cisco Systems UK.
