A few hours ago, the Trade Union Congress wrapped up its National Executive Council meeting after President Bola Tinubu discussed the new salary award for the nation’s government officials to mitigate the consequences of the elimination of subsidies on Premium Motor Spirit, or petrol.
The labor center and government representatives are scheduled to meet to discuss if the members accept the government’s offer.
In a conversation with our correspondent in Abuja on Monday, Tommy Etim, the national deputy president of the TUC, made this statement.
When questioned, Etim, who also serves as the national president of the Association of Senior Civil Servants, said that the labor leaders had already met and had heard suggestions from its NEC before going on to meet with the government representatives.
He said, “We just concluded our meeting a few hours ago and we received some recommendations from our members which we will convey to the government later today.”
