The Dein of Agbor Kingdom, HRM (Dr) Benjamin Ikenchuku (Keagborekuzi l) has enjoined feuding parties and aggrieved individuals in the State to close ranks with the current government in order to attract the desired socio-economic growth and development of the State.
The Monarch gave the advice in Agbor, the administrative headquarters of Ika South local government area of the State shortly after attending the swearing-in ceremony of commissioners in Asaba, the State capital.
Speaking in an interview with our correspondent at the residence of the current commissioner for Power and Energy, Comrade (Engr.) Jerry Ehiwarior, the traditional ruler urged the feuding parties and aggrieved individuals to sheath their swords and begin to work in collaboration with the current government of Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori towards achieving the MORE agenda.
According to the Monarch, the advise had become imperative at this material time as no meaningful development, he stressed, could be recorded in any tensed atmosphere of rancour, bitterness and uncertainties.
While commending the existing cordial relationship between the current Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and his predecessor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, the Monarch enjoined other past leaders of the State to follow suit, pointing out that, that way, the State would not only remain peaceful but that more developments would be attracted.
“When I see the cordial relationship between the current Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori and the immediate past Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, my heart rejoices. That is indeed the way to go.
“Here in Delta, we are one family. So, I am always happy when I see them (Okowa and Oborevwori) working in harmony.
“I have always known that Senator Ifeanyi Okowa would always be available to offer useful advise just as Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan is also doing. To me, I foresee a situation where the former Governor of the State, Chief James Ibori would join the fold because, we are one family.
“In a family,it is expected that issues may arise at any point, but the important thing is that when it arose, we should be able to resolve it amicably” the Monarch said.
Speaking further, the monarch, while urging the current Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori to improve on the achievements of the immediate past Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, expressed confidence that given the leadership qualities of the current Governor, Deltans should expect accelerated socio-economic and infrastructural development.
He challenged the new commissioner for Power and Energy, Comrade (Engr) Jerry Ehiwarior to justify the confidence reposed in him by the duo of the current Governor and his predecessor by remaining focus, committed and dedicated to his job.
“I have no fears in the ability of the new commissioner, Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior to deliver on his assignment. He is indeed a square peg in a square hole. Senator Ifeanyi Okowa trusts him, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori trusts him and I trust him very well” the monarch posited.
