Asamoah Gyan, a former captain of the Ghanaian Black Stars, has supported Victor Osimhen to take home the 2023 African Player of the Year award.
Osimhen was essential to Napoli’s Scudetto triumph last year.
For the Partenopei, the 24-year-old scored 26 goals in 32 league games.
The attacker became the first African and Nigerian to win the Italian top-flight’s top scorer accolade.
In the UEFA Champions League, Osimhen added five more goals for the Naples team.
The striker, according to Gyan, is a strong contender for the best player title.
“For me, he (Osimhen) deserves it. As a striker and seeing what he is doing, for the first time in over 30 years, winning the league with Napoli. He deserves it,” Gyan told Brilla FM.
