The Adamawa State Government has revisited Governor Ahmadu Fintiri’s declaration of a 24-hour curfew following the disturbance on Sunday.
The curfew is currently enforced between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m., allowing for unfettered travel across the state from daylight to nightfall.
Fintiri told the press during a security conference with military commanders early Monday morning that people should go about their legitimate business.
“The security agencies will continue to maintain peace,” the governor assured, adding that the security personnel will not hesitate to handle appropriately whoever may want to breach the peace of the state.
“We call on our people to be law-abiding. We want to inform our people that the relaxation of the curfew between 6 pm and 6 am will be reviewed hourly.
“We expect that businesses will go as usual and our students will be on their way to school and life will go on,” he said.
Referring to individuals and corporate entities whose offices and warehouses or stores were attacked in the looting that took place in Yola on Sunday, Fintiri said,
“We are waiting for NEMA to have a comprehensive report on the extent of damage that occurred yesterday.”
