Former England striker and first British one million pound forward player who won the European Cup twice with Nottingham Forest, Trevor John Francis has died at age 69, Daily Mail reported on Monday.
Francis rose to stardom at Birmingham City and was a lethal striker in his prime.
He scored 118 goals in 280 games for his boyhood side which led to his monumental move in 1979 from Birmingham City to Forest.
Francis became the first British player to be transferred for that amount in history after Brian Clough’s Forest side splashed out the enormous fee for him.
Clough had revealed that it was in fact £1,150,000, noting that he was trying to take pressure off his big-money man.
