Paris Saint-Germain is considering a second €120 million bid for Nigerian attacker Victor Osimhen.
In June, the French champions’ initial bid of €100 million for Osimhen was rejected. While the current price falls short of Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis’ appraisal, it still outperforms other interested teams’ offers.
According to reports, Napoli values Osimhen at €150 million, a price tag that no other team is ready to fulfill at the moment. De Laurentiis has discounted rival bidders such as Chelsea, Manchester United, and Real Madrid, thinking that PSG is the only team capable of affording the brilliant attacker.
“The only club that could afford Victor Osimhen is Paris Saint-Germain,” De Laurentiis revealed to Mediaset.
“If (PSG president) Nasser Al Khelaifi wants to send in a bid around €200 million, we wait and see what happens. I personally think that Victor will stay here.”
Meanwhile, Calciomercato reports that Osimhen and Napoli are negotiating a contract extension, with the club hoping to include a release clause that would only become effective in the summer of 2024 for a value greater than €100 million.
Bayern Munich is interested in Osimhen, but they deem Napoli’s economic demands to be unreasonable and have decided to terminate discussions. PSG now offer the greatest challenge to the Azzurri, having selected the Nigeria international as the best successor for World Cup champion Kylian Mbappé.
According to French reports, PSG is about to make a bid of approximately €120 million.
Osimhen scored 26 goals and gave five assists in 32 league games last season, helping Napoli win the Serie A title for the first time in more than three decades.
Osimhen also became the first African player to win the renowned Capocannoniere trophy, which is presented to Serie A’s best scorer.
The Nigerian attacker is set to return to pre-season training on July 19, while he awaits news on his future.
