The first wife of Nollywood actor Yul Edochie, May Edochie, has reportedly initiated divorce proceedings against him.
According to reports, May and her legal representative visited a court on July 10 to file a petition for the dissolution of their 18-year-old marriage.
The report claimed that Yul has been evading being served the necessary court documents.
The primary cause of conflict between the couple stems from Yul’s decision to marry actress Judy Austin as his second wife.
In April 2022, Yul publicly announced the birth of his son with Judy and their subsequent marriage.
May has consistently expressed her disapproval of Yul’s union with Judy, stating that her marriage was once stable and loving prior to these unprecedented events.
She firmly believes that polygamy is a personal choice, and while she acknowledges that certain religions and traditions permit it, she refuses to be coerced into accepting a practice that contradicts her own faith and family values.
