Manchester United’s second bid for Andre Onana has been rejected by Inter Milan.
The Italians complained that the offer was “not at the level we expected.”
Manchester United are interested in signing Onana this summer to replace David de Gea, who is set to depart Old Trafford as a free agent once his contract expires on June 30.
They made a bid of £34.4 million, with add-ons that may bring the total to £38.5 million, but the Serie A giants turned it down. The Red Devils countered with a £39 million bid.
However, Inter want closer to £45 million for their shot-stopper, and the Serie A club are unwilling to accept Old Trafford’s second proposal.
“As of today, the proposals are not at the level we expected,” Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio said.
“At this moment, he’s our goalkeeper and Andre is a key player for us — we’d like to keep him, then we’ll see what happens. We will wait for him on the 13th of July for pre-season.”
Inter vice-president, Javier Zanetti, added on the situation, “We hope to keep all the important ones.
“The transfer market has just begun, anything can change, but Inter have always shown themselves at the top when building important teams.”
