The Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC), on Wednesday said that forensic analysis has confirmed the authenticity of the dollar videos implicating former Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
Recall that in 2017, several videos allegedly showing Ganduje receiving kickbacks from contractors leaked online.
In reaction, the governor of Kano State at that time denied the allegations, claiming that the videos had been manipulated.
However, during the ‘A One Day Public Dialogue on Anti-Corruption Crusade in Kano’ held on Wednesday, Barrister Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado, Chairman of the PCACC, confirmed the credibility of the incriminating videos.
Rimingado disclosed that since the release of the footage, sceptics had challenged him to provide evidence of the former governor’s innocence or guilt.
He further revealed that the commission had initiated an investigation in 2018, but progress was hindered by Ganduje’s gubernatorial immunity at the time.
