Famous attorney Femi Falana has encouraged the Department of State Services, DSS, to expedite its investigations into charges involving the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Abdulrasheed Bawa, and the suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele.

On Friday, the human rights attorney responded to inquiries on Politics Today on Channels Television.

Falana asked the DSS to indict the pair if it had any proof of it.

According to the report, Bawa was allegedly questioned by the DSS on charges of abuse of power made against him, while Emefiele was detained and subsequently suspended over allegations of supporting terrorism.

He claimed that Emefiele and Bawa’s continuing detention does not demonstrate how the Administration of Criminal Justice Act is being applied.

Falana encouraged the government to deal with their situations legally, nevertheless.

“Investigations should be speedily conducted, more so where allegations are made. I do not expect any delay in the investigation of the very serious allegation that has been made,” he stated.
