A mild drama played out in Osogbo, the Osun State capital on Wednesday morning at the Eid prayer ground as Governor Ademola Adeleke left in anger over poor seating arrangement which prevented him from observing the prayer rite.
Reports say the immediate past spokesperson for the 9th Senate, Ajibola Basiru, had arrived at the Central prayer ground located at Oke-Baale area in Osogbo and allegedly sat at the seat reserved for the governor.
However, moments later, when Adeleke arrived the prayer ground, efforts were allegedly made by some politicians to prevail on the senator to leave the space reserved for the governor and his entourage but this yielded no result.
Senator Basiru reportedly insisted on seating on the front row seat which created controversy and some hoodlums began to create a scene which forced the Governor to stay back in his car and could not observe the prayer.
Following the heated scenario, the governor left the ground angrily without performing the Eid-el-Kabir Two Raka’a (prayers) and headed to his country home, according to his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed.
Subsequently, the police reportedly locked the entrance to the prayer ground after the prayers were completed, though it was opened moments later for the attendees to leave. Alleged attempts by the police to arrest Senator Basiru were rebuffed.
