The Bauchi State Police Command on Monday declared its readiness to ensure a hitch-free Eid-el-Kabir celebration by the Muslim faithful.
In view of this, the command has ordered the massive deployment of conventional police personnel and tactical teams to various strategic places, especially areas that are susceptible to attack.
A release, signed by the command’s Acting Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Aminu Gimba Ahmed, made available to reporters in Bauchi stated that the command had issued an operation order and directed Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders and DPOs to ensure apparent visibility policing during the festive period.
According to the Ag PPRO, “In preparation for hitch-free Eid-El Kabir celebration, the Bauchi State Police Command has re-strategized the security disposition and deployed adequate human and material resources with a view to fortifying security across the state before, during and after the festivity.
“The command has taken into consideration the possibility of miscreants and disgruntled elements of all descriptions might want to leverage on the occasion and perpetrate their nefarious activities.
“In view of this, the command has hereby ordered massive deployment of conventional police personnel as well as the tactical teams attached to the Command: Rapid Response Team (RRS), Anti-kidnapping Unit (AKU), Operation Restore Peace (ORS), Police Mobile Force (PMF) and Explosives Ordinance Disposal and Chemical Biological radioactive Nuclear (EOD&CBRN) operatives to various strategic places, especially areas that are susceptible to attack.
“Consequently, operation order has been issued, while Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders and DPOs have been directed to ensure apparent visibility policing during the festive period through constant supervision of officers and men deployed for the season with regards to standard operating procedures.”
While felicitating with Muslim faithful in the state on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration, the command urged members of the public to promptly report any suspicious activities to the nearest police post or via the following control room number: 0904 822 6246, 08151849417.
