*Kano Police Arrests 57 for Looting Property
The Kano State Police Command has arrested 57 suspects for stealing shop owners’ property at demolition sites in the state.
This was disclosed in a statement shared by the Command on its official Twitter handle on Friday.
The arrest was a response to reports received by the command of opportunistic looting that happened during the Kano State government’s demolition of illegal buildings and constructions.
The statement partly read, “As looted Properties are recovered; CP advised parents and community leaders to admonish their wards/youths to desist from looting people’s property.
“In continuation with the strategies emplaced by the Command to ensure the protection of lives and properties of people in the State, the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel, FIPMA, psc, directed for round-the-clock visibility patrols, following reports received that some hoodlums are taking the advantage of the demolition of illegal Buildings/Structures by the Kano State government to loot people’s properties.”
