The Flying Eagles of Nigeria have crashed out of the ongoing FIFA under-20 World Cup in Argentina, having lost by a lone goal to Korea Republic in the quarter-final match on Sunday.

The match was 0-0 on duration time which necessitated an extra-time.

The Koreans broke the deadlock on 95th minute. Seung-Won Lee took the corner kick and Choi Seok-Hyun got his head on the ball from the corner and put it into the right side of the net.

Earlier on 51 minutes, Daniel Bameyi unleashed a beautiful mid-range volley to the middle of the goal, but his effort was thwarted by the keeper.

The Eagles almost equalised on extra-time added time. Ume Emmanuel made space inside the box for a shot, but his effort went just wide off the right post.

The Koreans scored with their only shot on target, while the Nigerian side wasted three opportunities in the game they dominated.

The Koreans were resilient at the back and never allowed their defence to be breached all throughout the match.

Korea Republic will now play Italy in one of the semi-finals to decide which team goes into the final.
