The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, on Monday, presented letter of automatic employment to a 24-year-old first-class graduate of Edo State University, Uzairue, Oronsaye Emmanuel Osaze, in fulfillment of the government’s promise for automatic employment for first-class graduates of Edo origin in all Nigerian universities into the state’s civil and public service.
Presenting the letter on behalf of Governor Obaseki, the Edo State Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa Esq., said 15 first-class graduating students were granted automatic employment into the state’s civil service.
He said, “The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki said his administration will give automatic employment to all first-class students of Edo extraction across universities in Nigeria.
“The Governor is fulfilling his promises and has kick-started that process with the offer of employment to Oronsaye Emmanuel Osaze who emerged as the best-graduating student in 2021 with first-class honors from the Department of Engineering from Edo State University.
“This is a clear demonstration of Mr. Governor’s commitment to excellence in the public and civil service. Edo State public service is the best in Nigeria. The workers enjoy N40,000 minimum wage and prompt promotion of workers.There are no delays in promotions.
He further stated, “The 2022 promotion has been approved, no other State in Nigeria has been able to achieve this. Edo State has the most digitized public service in Nigeria as we are running 100 percent e-governance. Edo has the best work environment in Nigeria and pays salaries regularly before the 26th of every month.
“Edo State has a new set of performance management indices. As a government, we are the very best in performance management. We are no longer a transactional service but are service-driven.
“This move is to get the best and brilliant brains across institutions in Nigeria to strengthen the service and make it the best in the Country.”
Presenting the letter to Osaze, the HOS added, “You are deserving of this honour. I am confident that your presence in the service will contribute a better output and service to Edo people. I present to you today a letter of offer of appointment to the post of Electrical Engineer Grade Level 9, Step 2.”
In his response, the Edo University first-class graduate, Osaze noted, “I am grateful to the Governor and Government of Edo State for the honour. I am ready to bring in my best ability to improve the system and make Edo great Again.
“I call on the youths who are leaving the Country for greener pastures to stay back and contribute to the development of the State and Nigeria. This move by the Edo State Government in recruiting the best brains and talent will definitely make the state great again.”
