President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Joe Ajaero, on Monday, paid a courtesy visit to the national headquarters of the Labour Party (LP), in Abuja, METROWATCHXTRA.COM reports.

His visit comes amid the crisis rocking the LP at the national level which saw the alleged suspension of its national chairman, Julius Abure, and subsequent takeover by an Acting National Chairman.

METROWATCHXTRA.COM learned that the NLC president and his team were received at the Labour Party headquarters by Abure and members of his National Working Committee (NWC) amid tight security.

It was gathered that President Ajaero, at the meeting, issued a resounding warning to all those who were fomenting trouble in the Labour Party, to desist forthwith.

A Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, sitting in Abuja, had ordered that Abure should stop parading himself as the National Chairman of the Labour Party.

But a high court in Benin City had restrained the Labour Party (LP) from executing the purported suspension of the National Chairman of the party, Julius Abure, till the determination of a motion on notice.

This came after the Abuja high court barred Julius Abure; Farouk Ibrahim, National Secretary; and two others from parading themselves as national officers of the party for alleged forgery.

Some party members had earlier announced the suspension of the LP national chairman.

Trouble started after Abure’s Ward in Edo State chapter of his party suspended him over alleged anti-party activities.

Abure who was suspended indefinitely by his Edo LP Ward Executive for various offences, attributed his travails to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its led government to undermine the Labour Party.
