Ulcers occur when a painful sore occurs around the stomach as a result of a reduction in the thick layer of mucus supposed to shield the stomach’s digestive fluids, in which case the digestive acids eat away the tissues lining the stomach!
Stomach ulcers can be treated with quick treatment (in the form of medications, lifestyle management, and other things). The type of food one consumes also helps to keep ulcers at bay.
Some meals should be avoided by ulcer patients to avoid further hurting the already inflamed area:
1. Spicy Seasonings and Food
Spicy meals irritate the stomach lining and, as a result, the aching region. Spicy meals are also known to aggravate ulcer symptoms in certain people.
2. A cup of coffee
Coffee does not cause ulcers, but it does irritate them. The caffeine in coffee erodes the existing painful region (ulcer), making it worse, and if the objective is to heal the ulcer, it is preferable to avoid coffee or limit its use to the minimal minimum.
3. Alcoholic beverages
An ulcer victim should avoid any alcohol/alcohol drinks. Alcohol use raises the acid level in the stomach, exacerbating the ulcer and making recovery nearly difficult.
4. Red meat
Red meat should be avoided by ulcer patients (particularly those with peptic ulcers)! Red meat takes longer to digest, causing the acid level in the stomach to increase, irritating the region and exacerbating the symptoms. Chicken, turkey, and other lean proteins can be substituted.
5. Foods that have been refined
Pasta, white bread, sugar, and other processed meals should be substituted for leafy greens and vegetables, antioxidant-rich fruits, and plenty of water.
