Former Governor of Sokoto State and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Aliyu Wamakko, has been declared the winner of the April 16 Sokoto North Senatorial election for a third term.
He defeated his closest rival, Manir Muhammad Dan’Iya, the state deputy governor and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to be returned elected by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
According to the results declared by INEC early Sunday morning, Wamakko polled a total number of 141,468 votes to defeat Dan’Iya who scored 118,445 votes to come second.
