Five alleged armed robbers and marijuana sellers were apprehended by the Ekiti State Police Command, and guns and ammunition were confiscated from them.
According to the command’s spokesperson, Mr. Sunday Abutu, during a stop-and-search along Uso road in Ise-Ekiti, the Command’s Rapid Response Squad, RRS, in collaboration with State Amotekun personnel, arrested one Monday Reuben who had one locally made pistol and two live cartridges.
He stated that during interrogation, the suspect admitted to being a marijuana dealer who cultivates marijuana in the Ise-Ekiti forest.
According to Mr. Abutu, the suspect named four other people as his criminal associates and led the police team to their hideouts in the Ise-Ekiti forest, where Thank God Samuel, Ogenetega Lucky Friday, Wisdom David, and Samuel Imeh were apprehended.
He stated that the suspects arrested would be arraigned in court at the conclusion of the investigation and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to putting a stop to the activities of criminal elements in the state, which are mostly caused by heavy consumption of narcotics and other illicit drugs.
He also urged locals to constantly offer important information that might help police catch criminal offenders in the state.
Items recovered from them are one locally made single barrel gun, four cartridges, large quantity of seeds and weeds suspected to be Indian hemp.
