Following the series of crisis rocking the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Iyorchia Ayu has stepped aside as the party’s national chairman.
Ayu announced his decision to step down from his role as the PDP henchman during a live television broadcast at the party’s headquarters in Abuja, monitored by metrowatchxtra.com.
Ayu’s decision comes days after a Benue State High Court ordered his temporary exit from office pending resolution of a series of crises that rocked the PDP before and after the 2023 general elections.
It also comes barely 48 hours after his kinsmen in Gboko, Benue State, announced his suspension from the party at the Ward level over alleged anti-party activities
Meanwhile, Deputy National Chairman (North), Iliya Umar Damagum has stepped in as the acting national chairman of the PDP pending further resolutions.
