Delta North monarchs have urged the State Governor-Elect and Speaker of the State Assembly, Honourable Sheriff Oborevwori to be magnanimous in victory and cause losers to accept defeat in good faith in the spirit of sportsmanship.
The Monarchs under the aegis of Delta North Traditional Rulers Forum said the victory was not only resounding but well deserved given the political events that heralded the general elections and the keen nature of the electoral contest.
In a 5-point communique read by its Chairman and Obi of Owa, Dr Emmanuel Efeizomor ll, at the end of their meeting in Owa Oyibu, Ika northeast, the royal fathers felicitated with the governor-elect and his deputy Monday Onyeme on their electoral victory.
They extolled the qualities of the people of Delta north for standing firm to be counted when it mattered most during the electoral contest insisting that the victory of Honourable Oborewori at the polls was an expression of appreciation and love for the Okowa administration which was given added impetus by the people of the state.
They particularly acknowledged with a sense of satisfaction the outstanding performance of outgoing Governor Ifeanyi Okowa in managing the affairs of the State adding that he had raised the bar in governance which his successor and Governor-Elect had been prepared adequately to step into his shoes for the greater good of Delta State and Deltans in particular.
The Monarchs also prayed that justice should prevail as Atiku and Okowa seek redress in court over the just concluded presidential election in the country, saying they have faith in the justice system of the country because the votes of the majority of Nigerians should be allowed to count.
