In the governorship election results in Ogun State’s 15 local government areas, the All Progressives Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party are lagging each other.

The APC won eight local government areas, while the PDP won seven of the fifteen councils announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Odeda, Egbado-North, Egbado-South, Ewekoro, Ijebu-North, Ijebu-Ode, Ipokia, and Abeokuta-North were all won by the APC.

Abeokuta-South, Ogun Waterside, Ijebu-North/East, Ikenne, Ijebu-East, Remo-North, and Odogbolu were all won by the PDP.

Meanwhile, Sunkanmi Oyejide, the PDP’s state collation agent, has requested for a rerun in several polling units where polls were canceled.

Oyejide made the request in response to the large number of voting stations in Ikenne, Ogun Waterside, and Remo-North that were closed owing to non-functioning Bimodal Voters Accreditation System devices and violence.

Nevertheless, the APC state collation agent, Yemi Adelani, disagreed, claiming that it was unnecessary.

Adelani said the collation officer was right to have cancelled the votes due to the reasons given.
