The Oyo State Police Command acknowledged on Friday a confrontation on Thursday in Ibadan between supporters of the governing Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Three people were killed in the incident in the Ile-tun tun region of the Ibadan South-East Local Government Area.
Adewale Osifeso, the state Police Public Relations Officer, made the announcement on Friday on a radio show in Ibadan.
Osifeso said the Police command had since commenced the probe into the incident, noting that the culprits would be brought to book.
“Yes, the unfortunate incident did occur yesterday(Thursday), and as we speak, an investigation has commenced into unravelling the root cause of the incident. Oyo State is the cradle of sophistication, and the world depends on Oyo for many things; we should not continue in the trajectory known for hooliganism”, he said.
