Roland Okajere, 36, has been remanded to the Kirikiri Correctional Center by an Ikeja Magistrate’s Court in Ogba, Lagos State, for allegedly raping his 18-year-old daughter inside his shop in the state’s Ikotun neighborhood.
After the defendant’s Monday arraignment on a case that the police have filed against him that borders on rape, the magistrate, Mr. L. A. Owolabi, issued the order.
Inspector Esther Igbineweka, the police prosecutor, informed the court that the defendant committed the crime on January 4, 2023.
The prosecution claims that the offense committed is criminal in accordance with Section 260 of the Lagos State Criminal Code from 2015.
The charge read, “That you, Roland Okajere, on January 4, 2023, at your shop at Ikotun Bus Stop, Lagos State, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did rape your daughter, 18, by having sexual intercourse with her without her consent and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 260 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”
The defendant’s plea was rejected by the magistrate.
According to Owolabi, the prisoner would be held without bail for 30 days until the Director of Public Prosecutions gave his or her opinion.
The case was adjourned till April 12, 2023, for mention.
