The Ogun state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described as shameful, illogical, wasteful, anti-people and a sign of desperation, the alleged unending purchase of endorsements by Governor Dapo Abiodun “currently totalling at a naira equivalent of N10billion.”
In a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Asiwaju Bankole, on Friday, the PDP bemoaned what it described as the unending superficial endorsement of the state governor purchased with funds from the state purse as a retrogressive endeavour that lacks the capacity to stop the certain defeat of Abiodun in the election.
The statement reads in part, “It is shameful that while residents of Ogun state are facing the most unproductive government in the history of the state and the state workers are subjected to the cruellest welfare, governor Dapo Abiodun continues to use scarce state funds to buy endorsements from spent political forces all in desperation to keep up with the make-believe persona of being loved.
“While we sympathise with the governor for the unrest he has been facing since his defeat became obvious to him, we condemn strongly the profligate use of state resources that should be used for the betterment of the people.
“We urge Governor Abiodun to desist henceforth from this bazaar and stop using salaries of civil servants and deductions from pension and cooperative contributions to look good.
“Alliances and love of the people are a product of superlative work done and achievements, they are never forced.
“The people of Ogun state will determine its fate, not some hungry politicians whose consciences are traded in naira and kobo,” the statement read.”
