Governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Yobe State, Abdullahi Mohammed Talio, has withdrawn from the forthcoming March 18 gubernatorial race.

Talio has pledged to support the re-election bid of the state Governor, Malam Mai Mala Buni, on the platform of the All Progressives Congres (APC).

The development was disclosed in a statement issued by Mamman Mohammed, Director General of Press and Media to the Yobe Governor, on Friday in Damaturu, the Yobe state capital.

He said Talio announced his withdrawal from the race on Friday at a parley with Buni, noting that he was motivated to do so due to the achievements recorded by the Buni-led administration in the last four years.

“I want to avoid a situation of splitting votes, and to give our support to Governor Buni for a second term of office”, Talio was quoted in the statement as saying.
