Chelsea manager Graham Potter has revealed why his club overcame Borussia Dortmund 2-0 on Tuesday night at Stamford Bridge in the Champions League last-16 second leg.

Chelsea overcame Dortmund, according to Potter, because his players performed admirably against the visitors, created several good chances, and were well-organized against the Bundesliga heavyweights.

The Englishman stood by as goals from Kai Havertz and Raheem Sterling clinched the Blues’ 2-1 aggregate triumph in the quarter-finals.

Speaking at his post-match press conference after the game, Potter said, “It was a fantastic atmosphere, a fantastic evening.

“The players were tremendous, the supporters were tremendous. It is a fantastic result on such a big night and I am just so proud of the players.

“We played really well and we created a lot of good opportunities. I think over the two games, we did enough to win the tie, but we still had to get the job done, which we did.”

“We pressed high, we won tackles, we were organised, and we played some decent stuff against a top team. We are really happy to go through.”
