Presidential candidate of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has vowed to challenge the victory of All Progressives Congress presidential candidate (APC), Bola Tinubu, in the Feb. 25, 2023 presidential election.
“The battle to fight the wrong of Saturday is not about me but about Nigeria’s future. The battle is to deepen democracy and the future of the youth,” Atiku said at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday, describing the election that produced Tinubu as president-elect as a “rape of democracy”.
Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Mahmood Yakubu, had in the early hours of Wednesday, declared Tinubu the winner of the keenly contested election which held last Saturday Feb. 25.
The former Lagos governor polled 8,794,726 votes to defeat his closest rivals, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party and Labour Party’s Peter Obi who had 6,984,520 and 6,101,533 votes respectively.
