Senate Chief Whip and former Abia governor, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has lost his polling unit to Mr. Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) in the Saturday’s presidential and national assembly elections.
Kalu, who supported his party’s All Progressives Congres (APC) candidate, Bola Tinubu against his kinsmen, Peter Obi, in the election, failed to win his polling unit for the former Lagos governor.
metrowatchxtra.com reports that Obi’s Labour Party won the Onuibina Primary School in Igbere, Bende local government area of Abia state with 179 votes.
Kalu’s APC came second with 27 votes, while Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar came third with 3 votes out of the 209 total valid votes cast.
Kalu who was until now an advocate for the Igbo presidency, suddenly made a u-turn to support Tinubu after his friend who he hitherto supported, Senate President Ahmed Lawan, lost the APC primary election.
The former Abia governor who openly voted for Tinubu in the Saturday’s election, told newsmen that Nigerians were not ready for Igbo president.
