President Muhammadu Buhari has reassured Nigerians that his administration was committed to deliver a free, fair and credible elections in 2023.
Buhari gave the assurance when he visited the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, in Kano on Monday.
He said that a level playing ground would be provided for the conduct of credible elections in the country.
Buhari said that his administration was committed to sustaining and consolidating on the giant strides achieved under his leadership over the years .
The president said that no democratic system could be feasible without making efforts in touching every sphere of human endeavour.
He, however, stated that the Kano emirate council had over the years been up and doing in contributing to the development of the country.
Buhari said that the role of traditional institution in lending credence to the quest for good governance in a genuine democratic setting could not be over emphasised.
Speaking, Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje, told the traditional ruler that President Buhari was in Kano to inaugurate some capital projects executed by the state and Federal Governments.
Ganduje said that with the present democratic dispensation taking shape in the country, Kano was adjudged to be a leading pacesetter .
In his response, the Emir of Kano said it was imperative for politicians campaigning for elective office to understand the challenges faced by the electorates.
He stressed the need for a peaceful conduct of the elections, adding that employing crude tactics in winning election would be inimical to the peace and stability of the country.
