Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike spoke out on Friday in support of Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi.

Wike stated that his remark that Obi was presidential material did not imply that he favored the LP presidential contender.

The governor told BBC Pidgin, “If I tell Obi that he is presidential material, does it entail an endorsement?”

In 2022, Wike hosted the former Anambra State governor, sparking suspicion that he will support Obi.

Despite being a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Wike is yet to endorse his presidential candidate.

Wike and the G-5 governors are aggrieved with PDP leadership, hence their refusal to endorse the party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
