Ahead of the Manchester derby on Saturday, Pep Guardiola has admitted the truth about Manchester United.
The Spaniard praised Erik ten Hag’s performance at Manchester United when he succeeded Ralf Rangnick as manager at Old Trafford last year.
Guardiola thinks that since the Dutchman took over as manager, the Red Devils have significantly improved.
The Red Devils have improved from a very shaky start to the 2022–23 campaign, and after four straight victories, they are currently fourth in the Premier League.
On Saturday at noon, Manchester City will visit the Theatre of Dreams, and Guardiola anticipates a very competitive game.
Speaking ahead of the match, Guardiola was asked how much United have improved under ten Hag, and he was honest.
“A lot, it’s normal, a new manager arrives. The improvement is clear.
“Not just results. I have the feeling every time at Old Trafford or the Etihad it’s been a difficult game.
“Always were attractive games, both teams wanted to try to do the game. A lot of quality players on both sides. Top-class managers. Will be a good game.’
“It’s normal United are there. Still there, fighting. Nobody said they would be there, they are there because they have to be. It doesn’t surprise me. It’s why this competition is so difficult.”
