(NEWS RELEASE)
His Excellency, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, CON, the Immediate Past Governor of Delta State and Chieftain of the PDP earlier today at Jesse Town, country home of Chief John Obukhowko Nani, DESOPADEC Executive Director of Finance and Deputy Director, Delta Central, Delta State PDP Election Management Committee met with PDP leaders of Urhobo extraction drawn from all three Federal Constituencies as part of his recent move to unite aggrieved leaders and stakeholders of the PDP ahead of the 2023 general elections.
Dr. Uduaghan who spoke in unbroken Urhobo language appealed to the leaders to do everything within their reach to ensure the PDP stands taller in Delta Central especially as the PDP Governorship candidate, their son, Rt.Hon. Sheriff F.O Oborevwori hails from the District. He cautioned that the PDP is facing a tougher hurdle in the build up to the election due to the new provisions of the electoral law and adroitness of old political foes squaring up against the state ruling party in several opposition platforms.
He took time to emphasize the importance of “togetherness” in terms of working assiduously for the emergence of Atiku/Okowa as President and Vice-President and Sheriff/Onyeme as Governor and Deputy as well as other positions which is encased in the 5 over 5 mantra of the PDP rather than “vengeance” which could result in 3 over 5 or 4 over 5. The former two termed Governor opined that anything short of 5 over 5 for the PDP will be very calamitous not just for the party but also affect anyone who goes against the party. He cautioned seriously against it.
Various leaders from all three federal constituencies comprising the Ethiope’s, OSU, the Ughelli/Udu took turns to air their views about the primaries while also corroborating and acknowledging the importance of heeding the admonishment of the immediate past Governor whom they confessed is Godsent at a time the party needed a unifier and excellent peacemaker to rally support for all candidates of the PDP ahead of next year’s elections.
