A five-year-old girl has allegedly been raped in her classroom by her teacher Fatmata at a primary school in Maiduguri.
The suspect, Fatmata, security sources told metrowatchxtra.com , is a divorcee in her mid thirties and is one of the teachers of primary 1 in Golden Olives Primary School not far from the Government House, Maiduguri.
The suspected female teacher, who succeeded in raping the little girl had gone home after that fateful day, 11th November, without telling her parents because she had been warned about doing so.
In the course of living her normal life at home, she went to ease herself when her father, Hassan Baba, who lives around the stadium area observed that his child had colored urine when she went to ease her self.
A security source told metrowatchxtra.com that immediately the father observed the strange discharge, he rushed his daughter to the hospital to check if it was an infection since it was rare for minors to manifest blood at such an early age.
“On reaching the hospital, it was discovered that she had been penetrated. And on inquiries, she opened up that it was her class teacher that did that to her.
“My teacher Malama Fatmata used to keep me inside her hijab after school and ask that I suck her breasts while sitting in her laps. On this day, while I sucked her breasts she used her fingers to penetrate my private part”, she had told her father.
On discovery that his daughter was not ill afterwards, Hassan in conjunction with his neighbours quickly reported the matter to the police Division at GRA near the government house where the matter was taken up for prosecution.
Reactions from the human rights community
Head of the National Human Rights Commission in Borno State, Barrister Jumai Mshelia, said they were aware of the matter and would surely do the needful to ensure that the suspect is prosecuted according to the iolence against persons prosecution VAPP law.
She said that a minor of just five years of age should never be allowed to go through such kinds of injury.
