Director-General of National Orientation Agency (NOA), Dr Garba Abari, has expressed reservations over the two monsters affecting the process of Nigeria’s electoral system, stating that violence and vote buying if not curbed, may mar the forthcoming 2023 general elections.

Abari bared his mind during a one-day summit for political parties and stakeholders organised by the agency towards ensuring a violence-free elections as Nigeria prepares for next year’s general elections.

He appealed to political parties and other stakeholders to go beyond arrangements for the 2023 general elections, but make provisions for mitigation of factors militating against free, fair and credible elections in Nigeria.

Dr Garba Abari maintained that the NOA would not rest on its efforts and campaigns towards ensuring and sustaining Nigeria as an egalitarian society, through a robust democratic process, but will do anything humanly possible to re-orient Nigerians towards producing dynamic leaders.

He commended INEC as partners in progress towards the forthcoming 2023 general elections, and lauded the present administration of President Muhammadu Buhari over the new Electoral Act.

He said the promises by Nigerian President to ensure a free, fair and credible elections in 2023 remained the guiding force towards a smooth transition programme in Nigeria.
