Thousands of supporters of Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, staged a peaceful rally in Abuja on Saturday, ahead of the 2023 general elections.
The pro-Obi supporters, popularly called “Obidients”, marched from the Unity Fountain to the Moshood Abiola National Stadium amid heavy security.
The development comes weeks after politicians taunted the ex-Anambra governor that his supporters are mainly on social media and not on ground.
It was observed that officers of the Nigeria Police Force and the Federal Road Safety Corps were on ground to provide cover to the Obi supporters.
A group of other Obidients had last week staged a peaceful rally in Ebonyi State, Southeast Nigeria, as well as other states across the Federation.

Obi, who tweeted photos from the rally on his official Twitter handle said he was observing the rally from Kano State.
He tweeted, “From Kano, I am watching the OBIdients gathered in Abuja and exercising their constitutional rights to peaceful assembly. I salute you all. I appreciate you all. God bless you all and God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. – PO.”
