2023 Presidency: Miyetti Allah backing Obi, says Support Group

Ahead of the 2023 general elections, a group, the Peter Obi Support Network, POSN, has said that many members of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN, are solidly behind the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi.

This was even as the political support group said that members of the cattle breeders association have proven their support by consistently committing their personal resources into the ‘Obidient Movement’.

POSN was reacting to the claim by an official of MACBAN, that the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) promoters and Nnamdi Kanu are the people behind Peter Obi.

But, the Obi support group in a statement signed by its Director, Strategic Communication, Onwuasoanya FCC Jones, over the weekend, however, dismissed the claim.

POSN stressed that, “Obi is the hope of all dissatisfied Nigerians who genuinely love the country and desire a new, working, prosperous and equitable country,” adding, “everyone, including herders and farmers) will be given a sense of belonging.”

The statement reads: “I do not know how that individual came about such conclusions, but what I can tell you is that the Peter Obi candidacy excites all classes of Nigerians, including millions of those who, for one reason or the other, are dissatisfied by the way Nigeria is being governed at the moment. In Peter Obi, they see a renewed reason to believe in a prosperous and equitable Nigeria.

“Majority of those who are opposed to Peter Obi’s emergence as the next President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria are those who are either behind all the bad things happening in Nigeria or those benefiting from the bad system, which Peter Obi is determined to change. But those who genuinely love Nigeria, have embraced the hope provided by Peter Obi for a new and working Nigeria.

“I know of many members of the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore who are key supporters of the Obidient Movement and who have consistently committed their personal resources into the project. Peter Obi’s supporters cut across tribes, religions and political Parties, and our doors are still wide open to receive more Nigerians, including this particular individual who genuinely want Nigeria to start working again for all of us.

“Millions of Nigerians have confidence in Peter Obi’s promise of building a working and equitable Nigeria where everyone will be given a sense of belonging, where the cattle herder will not be harassed in any part of Nigeria, as long as he is law-abiding and the farmers shall live happily alongside the herdsmen and there will neither be strife nor fright.”
