Obaseki Mourns Passing of 2 PDP Chieftains – Uyigue, Aguebor

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has mourned the passing of chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Elder Sunny Uyigue and Hon. Sunday Aguebor.

In a statement, the governor said, “It is with a heavy heart that I mourn the passing of two leaders of our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State, Elder Sunny Uyigue and Hon. Sunday Aguebor, who served our party and state meritoriously and contributed to our party’s successes over the years.

“Elder Uyigue, a founding member of the PDP in Edo State, was a consummate politician and a grassroot mobiliser.”

He noted that Elder Uyigue, “was a force to reckon with in the politics of Edo State as he played critical roles in the advancement of democratic ideals in our state since the return to representative democracy.

“The party chieftain was an influential community leader, who championed the cause of development of Edo people, making sustained efforts to ensure better lives for the people of the state.”

The governor described late Hon. Aguebor, a former representative of Egor/Ikpoba Okha Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives between 1999 and 2003, as, “a dedicated partyman who worked assiduously to promote societal advancement, committing to causes that engendered sustainable development.

“While at the House of Representatives, Aguebor was dutiful in the discharge of his responsibilities.”

“He played critical roles in the PDP, serving the party in various capacities and contributing his quota to the party’s successes. He was a force for good, a community mobiliser and a lover of education,” Obaseki added.
