A former Minister of Power, Professor Chinedu Nebo, has urged the Nigerian youths to desist from demanding maximum pay for a minimal job, an action he said portrays sign of “laziness”.

According to reports, the ex-minister stated this while speaking on the topic, “The Excellent Leader” at the 6th edition of the Leadership Rebirth Conference, organized by Impactfield Global Youths Initiative, on Saturday.

Nebo also called on the youths to shun the idea of cutting corners and running away from hard work and commitment.

He advised youths to drive positive visions and pursuit through hard work and dedication for the betterment of the society.

According to him, excellent leadership is all about service to others; and what you have to offer to make a place or people better.

His words: “If you truly want to leader a people, you must have positive character, truth, accountability and unquestionable transparency.

“Leadership is about influencing people positively to take correct or positive actions that will lead to sustainable development and growth of a place or people.”

Nebo, who is a former Vice Chancellor of University of Nigeria, Nsukka, urged youths aspiring to go into political leadership to be pro-active and get committed to volunteering and “start doing something even small in your neighbourhoods”.

He challenged the youths to use their positive energy to influence the society for the better and “be focused on transformational leadership and not on transactional leadership”.
