The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke, leads ahead of closest rival, incumbent Governor Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the Saturday’s Osun State Governorship Election.
From the results officially declared so far for 22 of the 30 local government areas in the state by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Adeleke leads with a margin of 31,749.
The “Dancing Senator” has secured a total of 295,023 votes against Oyetola’s 263,274 votes, in the ‘repeat of 2018’ where the former was leading the latter before the exercise was declared inconclusive.
The 22 local government areas announced so far are Atakunmosa West, Ifelodun, Ife Central, Irepodun, Oriade, Ayedade, Ola-Oluwa, Iwo, Ede South and Isokan.
Other local government areas are Boluwaduro, Ilesa East, Ila, Boripe, Odo-Otin, Ilesa West, Obokun, Orolu, Olorunda, Ife North, Osogbo, and Aiyedire.
While PDP’s Adeleke has won in 14 local government areas so far, the incumbent governor has only won in eight local government areas.
The INEC officials formally are still declaring results for other local government areas as at the time of filing this report, early Sunday morning.
