The Federal High Court, Damaturu, Yobe State, has granted an application for an order of substituted service of court processes on President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan.
The case was brought to the court by the winner of the Yobe North All Progressives Congress (APC) 2023 senatorial primary election, Bashir Sheriff Machina.
metrowatchxtra gathered that the request was granted by Justice Fadimatu Mohammed of the Federal High Court, Damaturu, Yobe State.
The application was granted after one of the lead counsels to Machina, Nureini Jimoh (SAN), moved the application that since the case was filed in the court on 22nd June 2022, the bailiffs found it difficult to serve the writ of summons to the Senate President who is the second defendant in the case.
Bashir Machina had, in a suit filed on the 22nd of June 2022, asked the Federal High Court sitting in Damaturu to declare him the authentic senatorial candidate of the APC for Yobe North and order the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to recognize him as such.
The case was adjourned to 15th August 2022 to ensure that the parties have been properly served.
Recall that, Bashir Shariff Machina has been in a tussle with Lawan over the Yobe North Senatorial ticket.
