Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, has finally been recommended.as running mate to Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in next year’s general election.

The recommendation was made by  the committee set up by People’s Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, to screen three southern governors and recommend one for the role.

metrowatchxtra.com gathered that at the end of its assignment today, June 14, the 16-member committee voted 13 – 3 in favour of the Rivers State Governor.
Recall Atiku had written to the party (PDP) asking it to recommend a running mate to him.
This warranted the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party to set up a committee of 16 – comprising sitting governors, former governors and some members of the Board of Trustees.
Having completed its assignment, the. Committee has turned in it’s report to the NWC which is scheduled to meet Wednesday morning, June 15, over the report.
We gathered also that after the scheduled meeting, the NWC will forward the recommendation to Atiku who will inturn announce his running mate.

If accepted by Atiku, both would fly the part’s flag in next year’s election.
