Former lawmaker representing Kogi West senatorial district, Dino Melaye has tackled President Muhammadu Buhari over his plan to impose a presidential candidate on the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Buhari, who met with APC governors in Abuja on Tuesday had asked them to allow him choose a presidential candidate that would fly the flag of the party in next year’s presidential election.

The president’s move has since been causing uproar in the ruling APC as different factions in the party had kicked against Buhari’s plan.

But Melaye, who is a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member said on his Intagram page on Wednesday that the move portrayed Buhari as a dictator.

“My fellow country men and women, I am here to address you once again in the course of our nation’s history, the president made a statement yesterday, that portrays dictatorship, that portrays dictatorial tendency.

“No to Imposition by President Buhari,” he said.
