The dreams of Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State to sit at the Red Chambers in the National Assembly next year when he concludes his second term as Governor, has been crushed.
Prof. Ayade, who decamped to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2021, took part in the party’s Senate primary election in Calabar but lost.
Results from the exercise shows that Ayade managed to poll 52 delegates votes as against the winner, Adams Cecelia, who scored 140. Another aspirant Martin Orim scored 61 votes.
Ayade, who is completing his second term next year, was elected as Governor on the platform of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, a party which he abandoned in last year.
