Pastor Luke Okoro, Boyhood before Marriage

The Sunday Conversation | with Pastor Luke Okoro | 08. 05. 2022

2 Samuel 3:22-30. 2 Kings 5:20-27.

“Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of man, and with the seed of beast.
“And it shall come to pass, that like as I have watched over them, to pluck up, and to to break down, and to throw down, and to destroy, and to afflict; so will I watch over them, to build and to plant, saith the LORD.

“In those days they shall say no more, The fathers have eaten a sour grape, his children’s teeth are set on edge.
“But every one shall die for his own iniquity: every man that eateth the sour grape, his teeth shall be set on edge”
Jeremiah 31:27-30.

As we conclude this series in our conversation, it’s important to note that freedom from the errors of the past by our forefathers and from our own errors too, is covered under the new covenant which Jesus Christ instituted by His costless blood. Romans 5:8. That explains why the Scripture says that the saints overcame the devil by the blood of the lamb and the word of testimony. Revelation 12:11.
Therefore, as a child of God, victory has already been achieved for you by Jesus. Your duty is only to claim it in faith and in righteousness because sin is always an enemy between God and man. Remember Adam in the garden. Sin can always be a root cause of a curse or some persisting evil occurrences.
Prophet Micah captures it this way:
“But truly I am full of power by the spirit of the LORD, and of judgement, and of
might, to declare unto Jacob his transgression, and to Israel his sin.
Hear this I pray you, ye heads of the house of Jacob, and princes of the house of Israel, that abhor judgement, and pervert all equity.
They build up Zion with blood, and Jerusalem with iniquity.
The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets divine for money: yet will they lean upon the LORD; and say, Is not the LORD among us ? none evil can come upon us.
Therefore shall the Zion for your sake be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of the forest.”
Micah 3:8-12.
From the immediate passage above, the
judges, the priests and pastors and prophets were cursed because they abused their callings and offices. Prophet Micah appears to be talking to those of us in Nigeria and elsewhere where justice is procured, and religion practised without sacrifice and saintly purity — greed and covetousness as the drivers.
Those who sit in judgement against others must do well to be careful and diligent. We must not pervert judgement.
Sometimes, people who fall victims of these evils or scam can indeed raise curses against their perpetrators. God will hear them. The perpetrators have one option: to repent, and where necessary to do restitution. God punished Israel His people because they gave themselves to evil and materialism. Besides, God made Himself very far from them in order to punish them adequately. He blacked out their seers and their priests who returned lies to their followers as we see it happen today. Indeed, where there is no vision the people perish.

9. Mysterious occurrences in the family, business, career, scholarship or jobs among others. Behavioral strangeness in children, husband or wife, and even untimely deaths … are sometimes activated in the spirit realm. Pray accordingly:

By the mandate of heaven upon me, all these strange, unusual and evil happenings in my life and family, business and career, academics and every other aspect of my family and lineage, I uproot your foundation and denounce your further activities in my life and family and lineage in Jesus’ name.

Every evil altar raised against me and my family and my lineage to continually effectuate these satanic deeds are hereby rendered useless, powerless and of no validity going forward for ever in Jesus’ name.

10. Some people may have also privately Cursed others out of bitterness for one thing or the other. For instance, tenants who packed out leaving their landlords’ houses in bad shape or with unpaid rents, backlog of electricity bills etc. Any landlord can place a curse on such evil tenants and it will stand against them . even if they claim to be children of God.
Another example could be those rapists and robbers before coming to Christ.
King David cursed Joab the commander of his army over Abner’s murder in cold blood by Joab.

“Let it rest on the head of Joab, and on all his father’s house; and let there not fail from the house of Joab one that has an issue, or that is a leper , or that falleth on the sword , or that lacketh bread.”
2 Samuel 3:28 -30.

Many may consider it too strange and harsh for David to curse his nephew or so with so much bitterness and anger , even to include his unborn children. But that is the tragedy of sin and human indiscretion. The cut can indeed be deep, penetratingly hurtful. We must be cautious in these matters as pilgrims.
Another case is that of Prophet Elisha and his servant Gehazi who went to dishonestly use his master’s name to covet part of the gifts earlier rejected by his master from Naaman the Syrian army general, after he was cured from his leprosy. Hear Elisha:

“And he said unto him, (Gehazi)
Went not my heart with thee when the man turned again from his chariot to meet thee? Is it time to receive money.. and sheep and maidservants?
The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall cleave unto thee and thy seed for ever .
And he went out from his presence a leper, as white as snow.” 2 Kings 5: 26-27

From these cases, it is certain that some sicknesses and diseases are inherited, some being clear cases of curses placed upon families and individuals by those who felt offended. It’s our divine duty as ministers of the new covenant to break them , and to set the captives free as we are currently doing. The prayer:

Having embraced the new covenant, and having repented of my evil past, I cancel every curse or invocation or invectiveness or words spoken in anger against me for things I personally did before becoming a child of God. I repent of them, and plead before thee , Oh LORD to forgive me and blot out all such evil words against me in Jesus’ name. Every tongue that is always set to stir them up , I command it to cease henceforth in Jesus’ name. LORD I plead for your mercy by reason of the blood of Jesus shed for my salvation and redemption on Calvary in Jesus’ name. Amen.

(Note: There could be NEED for Restitution after Repentance. However, before engaging in Restitution, please seek the counsel of an experienced minister of God for guidance.

Also appreciate God for your deliverance by doing a Thanksgiving Offering in your local Church).

Happy Sunday. God bless you graciously for following through.

(Concluded).
