Operatives of the Lagos Police Command on Sunday refused a N500,000 bribe offer from suspected drug traffickers.

The operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) were said to have intercepted a commercial bus laden with illicit drugs around Mile Two.

The bus with registration number AGL205YD, allegedly belonging to one Alhaji, better known as General in Mushin, was intercepted around 4am while on its way to Mushin.

A statement by police spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said the intercepted drugs had street value of about N10million, adding that the suspects confessed to have carried the drugs around 10pm on Saturday at Alaba Rago and were shipping same to Mushin.

Hundeyin identified two suspects, Ojukwu Omanogho, 36 and Hope Jumbo, 40 as those arrested with the bus, adding that one Oluwole Omojuyitan, 40, who fled the scene on a motorcycle, returned with N500,000 bribe for the police team but was also arrested.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alabi, while commending the Commander RRS, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi and the team has since directed that the suspects and exhibits be transferred to the Command Headquarters for further investigations,” said Hundeyin.
