The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, on Thursday, swore-in Dr. Bartholomew Brai as the Commissioner for Science and Technology.
Obaseki, during the swearing-in at the Government House, Benin City, charged the appointee to see to the realization of the government’s vision to make the state a hub for science, technology and innovation.
He noted, “This is the last commissioner in terms of the portfolios to be filled in the cabinet, which is that of Science and Technology. We had to search extensively to get the right person to fill this position.”
Obaseki continued: “I believe you are the right candidate for this job. We are doing so much in Edo State, particularly in the area of human development, focusing on education and leveraging science and technology.
“We selected you because you have an effective and scientific mind, combined with your track records.
“Your work is cut out for you as the ministry of science and technology is relatively new and you need to put in place the foundation. We wish you well in this task.”
On his part, the new Commissioner, Brai, an Associate Professor from Federal University Oye, Ekiti, thanked the governor for the confidence reposed on him, assuring him that he will not disappoint the people of Edo State.
