The Governor Mai Mala Buni-led All Progressives Congress (APC) Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) has just announced that it will now conduct the much talked about national convention of the party on the 26th of March, 2022.

This is contrary to a letter earlier sent to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announcing March 26th for the conduct of the party’s zonal congresses.

The Committee has been in a closed-door meeting since 11am on Monday.

The National Secretary of the Party, Dr John Akpanudoedehe, who announced the new development to Correspondents after the closed-door meeting, said the preparation for the national convention will commence on March 24, 2022, while the zonal congresses will hold before the national convention slated for March 26, 2022.

It had earlier been reported how the exercise initially scheduled for February 26, 2022, was postponed indefinitely.

Addressing newsmen at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja after a closed-door meeting, which lasted several hours, Secretary of the Caretaker Committee, Senator John James Akpanudoedehe, said the preparation for the convention will commence on 24th of February 2022.

He said the zonal congresses will hold before the national convention slated for 26 of March 2022.
