The three-man Anambra Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has commenced sitting.
It is chaired by Justice B. Mohammed, with Justice Edem Akpan and Justice O. H. Oyajimi as members.
At its inaugural sitting at the state judiciary complex on Thursday, the tribunal ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to allow the candidates to inspect the election materials.
The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Andy Uba is challenging the declaration of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate Prof Chukwuma Soludo as the winner of the November 6 election.
The tribunal said the materials should be inspected in the presence of security operatives.
The candidate of the Accord Party, Dr. Godwin Maduka, has withdrawn his petition against the Soludo.
Maduka’s lawyer, Mr. N.D. Agu, prayed the tribunal to strike out the matter because his client was no longer interested in the petition.
Agu submitted that though he duly filed the petition, none of the respondents was served.
